A prescreen interview is the first interview that recruiters conduct with candidates in order to make a preliminary selection.
Here, a first picture of the candidate is formed and mutual expectations regarding the open position are clarified. The focus is on the personality of the candidates, their professional development to date, and their motivation to change or their future career plans. The framework parameters such as notice period, salary expectations, etc. are also clarified at this stage. In order to minimize the effort for both sides, the prescreen usually takes place by telephone or video call. The next step is usually a technical interview with the hiring manager, usually in person.
